Self Hypnosis Common Uses for Self-help

Self Hypnosis Common Uses for Self-help by Brad Reagan

A definition of Self Hypnosis (Autosuggestion) as found on the Web at Wikipedia:

Autosuggestion is a process by which an individual trains the subconscious mind to believe something, or systematically schematizes the person's own mental associations, usually for a given purpose. This is accomplished through self-hypnosis methods or repetitive, constant self-affirmations, and may be seen as a form of self-induced brainwashing. The acceptance of autosuggestion may be quickened through mental visualization of that which the individual would like to believe. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self_hypnosis

Self hypnosis allows you to autosuggest outcomes or behaviors that you would like to see in your life. You may want to use self-hypnosis for any of the following:

Quit Smoking - with the rise in cigarette taxes, the health benefits of quitting, and the current lack of social appeal, many people are trying to kick the habit. Self hypnosis may be used to auto-suggest that it is foul tasting or otherwise unpleasant and help you stop.
Weight Loss - we all want to lose weight and diets are hard to follow or easily discarded. But many are turning to self-hypnosis recordings that are meant to help you curb your eating habits or 'steer' you towards more healthy choices.
Self Confidence - a high self confidence is the key to the success of several high profile celebrities and executives. Through self-hypnosis, those that feel they are less self-confident attempt to retrain their brains so that they wake up ready for the day and anxious to go that extra-step. This area covers a wide range of confidence issues, everything from being successful to being more attractive.
Gain Wealth - here, the self hypnosis follower is looking to train themselves to identify opportunities and to act on them. Of course, there are those that 'wish themselves to success', but the main focus should be on 'opening your senses' not daydreaming about money.

These are some of the more common areas, but the potential is endless. Will self-hypnosis work on everyone? That is hard to say, it depends on you. You may benefit greatly from a particular technique as defined in a particular self-help hypnosis system and your friend may not. But, your friend may find other techniques in the same self-hypnosis system that did not help you. We are all different and we all learn in different ways.

The best advice here is to continue to try new systems of self-hypnosis until you find the one that works for you.

I have used similar techniques, although I wouldn't have thought of it as self-hypnosis at the time, to retrain my brain to focus on opportunities. These techniques included writing out a list of what I wanted to accomplish, detail each item on the list (to the point of knowing exactly what it is I wanted to accomplish), detail how it would be accomplished and write it down as a statement document. Then, simply read that document to yourself every morning, through out the day, and just before bed.

After a while, I simply knew everything in the document frontwards and backwards. Once that happened, I began to realize the accomplishments, I found the way to becoming successful just as I had detailed it in my list. That system still works for me, it may work for you.
